Team President says Igor Shesterkin and Pavel Buchnevich were involved in a car accident on Sunday
Rangers’ President John Davidson said that Goalie Igor Shesterkin and Forward Pavel Buchnevich were involved in a car crash in Brooklyn on Sunday night. Davidson explained that Shesterkin suffered “a small rib fracture” in the accident. Davidson is also saying that Buchnevich was “shaken-up” by the wreck but suffered no significant injuries. Igor Shesterkin was reportedly driving the car when the crash happened.
At this time, Buchnevich is considered day-to-day as he recovers from his injuries. However, Shesterkin’s injuries appear to be more serious. John Davidson said that Shesterkin will be “reassessed regarding this [injury] in a couple weeks.”
Shesterkin has played in 10 games for the Rangers this season and has put up a 9-1-0 record along with a save percentage of 94.0%. Pavel Buchnevich has recorded 14 goals and 23 assists for 37 points this season in just 61 games.
The accident was announced earlier this morning along with the seven year contract extension that was given to Forward Chirs Kreider ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline which is set to expire later today.
