Reports say New York could be a potential landing spot for future Hall of Famer Tom Brady
Earlier today, Pro Football Talk released an article that said that the Giants could be a potential landing destination for Quarterback Tom Brady. The article cited Michael Giardi of the NFL Network. According to PFT, Giardi said the “Giants have been named by sources at the Scouting Combine as a potential team with interest in Brady…” Giardi also said that the Titans and Raiders are reportedly interested in Brady as well.
This news comes just a few days after new Head Coach Joe Judge refrained from naming Daniel Jones as the team’s starting quarterback this coming season. During a press conference on Tuesday, Judge explained why he is not commenting on the status of players within the Giants’ organization at this time.
Judge elaborated on his decision by saying, “I’m not going to establish any kind of status or hierarchy within the individual players or position groups by spending a month talking about individuals… I can’t tell everyone that they have an equal slate and they show up on April (6) and I’ve spent a month talking about a specific player. Everyone is going to have the same opportunity on a daily basis to compete… We’re getting to know everything we can possibly know about who we have on our roster, as well as everyone we’re looking to bring in and join our roster as well.”
Earlier today, ESPN’s Jeff Darlington reported that sources close to him said Brady is “currently operating under the belief that he will enter free agency to play somewhere other than New England next season, a sentiment the quarterback has shared with others.”
NFL.com is saying that the Patriots have not yet reached out to Brady’s camp regarding a new contract. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said that this should not come as a surprise since there is no active CBA currently in place. He went on to say, “The Patriots have no reason to negotiate now. It’s probably going to come closer to when the tampering window opens.”
Last off-season, the Giants selected former Duke QB Daniel Jones with the sixth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Daniel Jones played in 13 games for the Giants last year and posted a 3-10 record. Jones finished the season with 3027 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
