Brooklyn Nets Betting
The Brooklyn Nets are one of two NBA franchises located in New York. They started as an ABA franchise and later was absorbed into the NBA. Unfortunately, the team has yet to win an NBA title and have yet to enjoy any serious success outside of a couple of deep playoff runs in the early 2000s.
Soon you will be able to be on the Nets as the NY legislature is looking to legalize online sports betting. We estimate that online sports betting will be online at some point in 2020 and Brooklyn Nets betting will be available for all games of the regular season and the playoffs. Learn more about the franchises, whether experts are giving the Brooklyn Nets odds to win the NBA Finals anytime soon, and more about betting on the NBA in New York.
Original ABA Franchise Still Without an NBA Title
The Brooklyn Nets originally started as the New Jersey Americans in the ABA in 1967 and changed to the New York Nets in 1968. In 1976, they were absorbed as part of the ABA-NBA merger. Before the merger, the Nets won two ABA championships, but to this point, that was the last time they won a title.
After joining the NBA, they did not enjoy any serious success until 2001 when they made back to back NBA Finals. They lost the 2002 NBA Finals to the Lakers and the 2003 NBA Finals to the Spurs. In 2012, they became the Brooklyn Nets but have yet to enjoy any serious success. The team missed the playoffs three of the last four years, finally making the playoffs again in 2019. However, the team may be on the rise as they have plenty of salary cap room.
Outlook for 2020 and Beyond
The Brooklyn Nets are being touted as a potential destination for several top-tier free agents due to a couple of reasons. The first is that the team has a young nucleus of talent that can only improve with experience and the addition of veteran talent.
Also, the Nets have about $30 million in salary cap space, allowing them to sign a big name star to the team. There have been a lot of names thrown around, including Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and even Kawhi Leonard, but it is still a bit early to figure out who will land there.
Regardless, the team looks poised to put out the money necessary to start building on their winning season in 2019, and they could be a team on the rise in the next few years.
