The NBA plans to suspend the season following the conclusion of tonight’s games

Around 10 PM EST, the NBA released statement from its head office in New York saying that the league plans to suspend the season following tonight’s games.

The NBA also said in the statement that a player on the Utah Jazz has “preliminarily tested for positive for COVID-19” or the Coronavirus. The positive test was reported at a game between the Utah Jazz and the Oklahoma City Thunder that was being held at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The NBA is reporting that the game was cancelled at the time even though the affected player was not seen at the building.

Following that, the NBA announced that it will be suspending gameplay following the conclusion of tonight’s games. The league has said that it plans to use this time to determine what the “next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic.”

There were six games on the NBA schedule tonight. The game between the Utah Jazz and the Oklahoma City Thunder was suspended, as mentioned before. Prior to that, the Hornets beat the Heat, the Knicks beat the Hawks, the 76ers beat the Pistons, and the Mavericks are currently beating the Nuggets. Finally, the Pelicans and Kings are scheduled to play at 10:30 PM EST.
