Jessica Mendoza will no longer be special adviser for New York in 2020
Two days ago, it was announced that Jessica Mendoza will be leaving her role with the New York Mets according to a statement from GM Brodie Van Wagenen. Mendoza will be returning to ESPN in an expanded broadcasting role, although it is being reported that she will no longer be a part of the Sunday Night Baseball team. It is also being reported that Mendoza will have an increased role on several shows across ESPN’s multiple TV and digital platforms. She is expected to serve as an analyst for weekday games aired on the network.
Jessica Mendoza was hired as a special adviser to the New York Mets in 2019. Prior to that, she had been a member of the Sunday Night Baseball team since the 2015 season.
In a tweet, Brodie Van Wagenen said, “We are happy for Jessica Mendoza who will be expanding her role at ESPN. To focus more on those new responsibilities she will no longer be a Special Advisor to the @Mets.”
During the 2019 season, the Mets finished third in the NL East with an 86-76 record. This was an improvement on their 2018 season, when they finished 77-85.
