TMZ reports that the former NBA All-Star passed away in Helicopter Crash
The sports world received horrific news and suffered a tragic loss today. A source confirmed with TMZ Sports that Los Angeles Lakers’ legend Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter crash this morning in Calabasas, California. Kobe was traveling in his private helicopter with at least three other people when it went down TMZ reports. TMZ confirms that five people died in the helicopter crash. TMZ is also reporting that Kobe’s wife, Vanessa Bryant, was not among the people who died on board the flight.
The 6’6″ former superstar is arguably the most famous player in the history of the Los Angeles Lakers organization. He joined the Lakers in 1996, and spent his entire 20 year career in Los Angeles. During his time in LA, Kobe won five NBA Championships and two Olympic Gold Medals with Team USA. Kobe’s 33,643 career points are currently the fourth most in the history of the NBA. The Black Mamba, as he was known, also retired with a regular season MVP award as well as two NBA Finals MVP awards. Kobe wore both numbers 8 and 24 with LA, which have since been retired following his last game in 2016.
Kobe’s death comes just one day after Lebron James passed Bryant for 3rd place on the NBA’s all-time career scoring list. Kobe Bryant: dead at 41 years old.
